Michelle Huxhold, EA – Partner

A partner since 1995, Michelle is a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) and is an Enrolled Agent registered with the Internal Revenue Service.  Her current clients include individuals, partnerships, LLC’s, corporations, trusts, and non-profit agencies.

Michelle’s early career included various accounting jobs at several local businesses.  In 1990, Michelle’s full time job became raising her first child.  This job became much bigger in 1993 with the arrival of a second son.  It was during this time that she began her association with Gene Smith and A&E Business Services.

As the children grew older, Michelle was able to focus more of her energy on the partnership (A&E Business Services).  The business has grown over the years and has fully occupied her time since 2003.

Mark Huxhold, CPA – Partner

Mark Huxhold is a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of California. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. His current clients include individuals, partnerships, LLC’s, corporations, trusts and non-profit organizations.

In addition to providing tax services to Individual, businesses, and non-profit organizations, Mark also performs financial statement audits and reviews. His current clients include both non-profit organizations and for-profit businesses, churches, recreation facilities, home owners associations, and other non-profit organizations.

Prior to entering public accounting in 2003, Mark worked for 18 years in private industry holding various accounting positions, most recently controller of a local biotech company. Mark has extensive corporate accounting experience involving all aspects of accounts payable, account receivable, credit/collections, payroll, general ledger control, budget and forecast preparation, development of financial statements, cash management, project management, and investing. This experience makes Mark an excellent resource for your business consulting needs.

Bonny Gilmartin

Bonny is the firm’s Office Manager and a licensed Tax Preparer; registered with the California Tax Education Council. She is the person who will generally greet you in person or on the phone. This interaction and her broad involvement in the firm give her the ability to handle many of your needs.

It all began with her first job as a lab technician for Kraft Foods. After working her way up the ladder at Kraft, Bonny soon realized that she could not advance any further without a college degree so she headed off to Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Bonny graduated from Idaho State with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She moved to San Diego, CA to work for a biotech firm creating peptides for research in Malaria and the HIV virus. Then her career took a turn towards Pharmaceutical Sales with Hoffman La Roche. After several years at Roche she had moved up through the ranks to a Hospital Sales Representative, attaining number one sales numbers in the nation numerous years.
